Trinity Turnage

Trinity Turnage was born on January 11, 2005, in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She was the youngest of Yvette Turnage’s four children and was raised with her mother, grandmother Ivy, and siblings Malik, Brianna, and Aaliyah in the multigenerational Turnage household.

Early Life and Background

Trinity was raised in Prince George’s County as part of a Black American family in the Washington metropolitan area. She was the fourth and youngest Turnage sibling. All four children had the same father; Yvette escaped the coercive relationship with him after Trinity’s birth, and Ivy carried much of the household’s daily childcare.

Yvette was Trinity’s mother. Ivy held a central childcare role in the household and helped raise Yvette’s children. Malik, Brianna, and Aaliyah were Trinity’s older siblings. Malik, whom the family called Turner, saw himself as a protector of all three younger sisters and showed particular tenderness and watchfulness toward Trinity.
